Why Moving Jobs Before Christmas Is Wise: 4 Reasons

Posted by Tilt Recruitment on December 2, 2022

Did you know that now may be the perfect time to move jobs? We get it, it may not seem ideal with the busy festive season in full flow, but trust us on this one. There are many reasons why choosing to move jobs before Christmas is wise, but below, we have rounded up our top 4 reasons to provide you with a bit of inspiration and motivation.

  1. There is a need for recruitment at this time of the year

Not just exclusively in law recruitment but in all types of recruitment, December is an active time of the year. With the fiscal year coming to an end, budgets are often put together with new staff in mind.

  1. Work is often the topic of New Year’s resolutions

Once the festivities are over and done with, many people turn to their resolutions which generally place focus on a new job. With more CVs than ever reaching the hand of recruiters in January, it’s best to get ahead of the rush. By getting your CV early in December, you will give yourself ample time to indulge in the seasonal activities and can rest assured knowing you’ve done your bit before the new year comes around.

  1. It could be the opportunity for a salary upgrade

With most offices not opening until later in January and in most cases law offices being closed for the entirety of the month, searching for a new job in December increases your chances of a salary raise. By starting your new role at the end of the year rather than at the beginning of it, you’re putting yourself in a position to potentially bank more money.

4.  Time off between jobs is great

If you interview during November and work a month’s notice before starting a job in December, you’ll be naturally given time off for the Christmas break. By applying for jobs before the new year and potentially starting in your new role, you will have the opportunity to meet new colleagues and enjoy some of the festivities with them.

During December, it’s common knowledge that offices shut for a couple of weeks. When you return to work in the new year, you’ll be able to slowly ease yourself into the role and will have benefitted from a long Christmas break.
